Bench scale method for commercial propagation of Bambusa nutans and Dendrocalamus membranaceous was developed using seed quality and seedling vigour to mass produce quality propagules. Multiple shoots were produced from nodal segments of aseptically grown seedlings, cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium containing BA. Rooting was done in 0.5 mg/l BA. This method produced 967 plants ofBambusa nutans and 1069 plants of Dendrocalamus membranaceous in the span of 5-6 months which can be sealed up four times through maeroproliferation.- New Reports to the Flora of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, from Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, South Andaman

This paper presents a novel general method for computing optimal motions of an industrial robot manipulator (7 dof seriel link robot). The optimization model considers the nonlinear manipulator dynamics, actuator constraints and joint limits. The problem has 2 objective functions, 147 variables and 42 constraints. Two evolutionary algorithms namely Elitist Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) and Differential Evolution (DE) have been used for the optimization. The trajectories are defined by B-spline functions. The results obtained from NSGA-II and DE are compared and analyzed.Keywords

Biodiesel production has received considerable attention in the past as a biodegradable and non-polluting fuel. The production of biodiesel by transesterification process employing alkali catalyst has been widely accepted for its high conversion and reaction rates. In India, edible oils like sunflower, mustard, palm, cotton seed oil, groundnut oil etc., are available in abundance, which can be converted to biodiesel. In the present study, biodiesel has been prepared from cotton seed oil. As the acid value is less than two, it is easily converted to biodiesel by transesterification process. The experimental work revealed the suitability of sodium hydroxide/potassium hydroxide and methanol as solvent for maximum methanolysis at 60-70°C in 45 minutes. Properties of biodiesel are in concordance with international standards.Keywords

The teaching-learning methodology in the engineering education system is moving from a teacher-centric model to a student-centric model. The student-centered learning model is a method of learning or teaching that keeps the learner at the center. Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is an education model that focuses on the student-centric model which equips the students with the desired knowledge, skill, attitude, and behavior at the time of graduation. The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) is an accrediting body in India and its norms ensure that professional programs adopt OBE, and as an initiative, it has defined twelve Program Outcomes (POs). These POs are to be demonstrated by the graduates upon completion of the program. Professional programs curriculum will play a vital role in the attainment of POs. Therefore, the curriculum has to be designed in such a way that all the POs need to be addressed. The majority of the courses in the curriculum address the first five POs and are called disciplinary outcomes. The rest seven POs i.e PO6 to PO12 are generally named as professional outcomes and to address these POs, the department has to put in additional effort. In this paper, a Ashwini B P Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumakuru, India ashvinibp@sit.ac.in Curriculum Compliance Improvement Model (CCIM) is proposed that performs the gap analysis of the existing curriculum and aid to enhance the curriculum compliance for PO attainment by suggesting suitable actions. These actions can be implemented by fine-tuning the curriculum design and teaching-learning process which will provide an environment for the students to attain all the graduate attributes (POs), the proposed model is illustrated through a case study. Overall, the model proposed is useful for the Tier-1 institutions that are keen on their students attaining all the graduating attributes, and also, ensures to meet the objectives of the accreditation procedure.Keywords
